Key Travel acquires Scottish TMC

key travel logoTravel management company Key Travel has acquired Edinburgh’s Ben Lawries Travel. Ben Lawries was founded 25 years ago and has a number of Scottish non-profit bodies among its clients.

Steve Summers, chief executive of Key Travel, told Public Sector Travel: “Key Travel has an established client base in Scotland and is experiencing increased demand from University, faith and charity clients in Scotland and the north east of England. Scottish Universities in particular are increasingly looking to adopt framework agreements from the English Universities, in which Key Travel is the primary supplier. This move therefore provides a local base and service ‘experience’ for these organisations. Ben Lawries has a number of important non-profit clients, including in the University sector, so this provides a natural fit with this plan.”

“In addition, Ben Lawries has an established tours and groups department, that fits in well with the education market that Key Travel serves. The skills and experience complement our existing Groups team in Manchester, extending our overall portfolio to field trips and tours for schools and colleges.”

“Key Travel continues to look for growth opportunities in the UK and abroad, where these fit our goal to be the leader in travel provision to the non-profit sector.”

Key Travel counts many universities and non-profit organisations among its clients, including the London School of Economics, University of Westminster, Oxfam, the UK’s research councils and Save the Children.
