GetThere has signed a deal with SilverRail Technologies to “more rapidly expand and enhance its current rail offerings”.
SilverRail’s platform, called SilverCore, aggregates rail inventory, pricing and scheduling information. The deal will allow GetThere users to make ticketless transactions and modifiy and cancel their rail itineraries online.
Jason Geall, director of GetThere operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “By partnering with SilverRail, we can quickly bring even more rail choices to our customers in North America and Europe. “Access to rail content is a priority for many GetThere customers and offering global rail content means additional opportunities for compliance, savings and choice within their managed travel programmes.”
SilverRail CEO Aaron Gowell, said: “Passenger rail has become the transportation of choice for travellers and companies looking for fast, efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly travel methods. SilverRail’s partnership with GetThere brings rail to the GetThere platform in a standard, simplified user interface across leading global rail operators making rail as easy to book as air.”
Last October, Public Sector Travel reported on the launch of Quno, a rail booking system based on the SilverCore technology.
GetThere’s has previously sourced UK rail content through thetrainline and the SilverRail content will supplement this. A GetThere spokesperson told Public Sector Travel: “Our agreement with SilverRail allows us to bring in additional rail content to supplement what we have today. Our goal is to provide corporations with choice so they can access the rail providers they need in a self-service environment that allows for consistent policy controls and reporting.”
