Several Iberia flights between London and Madrid have been cancelled today as a result of a pilots’ strike by the airline’s pilots. Services IB 3163, 3166, 3167, 3170, 3171, 3172, 3176 and 3177 will not operate today as a result. Iberia says it has been forced to cancel 109 flights on Monday and a similar number on Wednesday 11 January, around a third of the airline’s scheduled services.
Iberia, part of parent company IAG along with British Airways, says that more than 23,000 passengers have been affected by the strike.
The airline said it “regrets the inconveniences this conflict is causing to customers. The company and its tireless staff are making every effort to assist customers and to lessen the effects of this unjustified strike.”
The strike has been called by pilots’ union SEPLA over plans for the creation of a low-cost subsidiary called Iberia Express this spring.
