BA leads passenger traffic growth at IAG

Traffic grew 6.6% in May at the International Airlines Group (IAG), parent company of British Airways and Iberia Airlines, from that in May 2011. Traffic at Iberia fell 1.8% while that at BA grew 10.1% to 10,853 million revenue passenger kilometres in May.
Group premium traffic grew by 1.7% from that in May 2011 while non-premium traffic leaped by 7.5%.
Passenger load factor in May was 78.6%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the 78.1% achieved in the previous year.
Passenger numbers rose 9.3% to 4,807,000 from the 4,400,000 in May 2001. The growth was led by domestic traffic in both the UK and Spain (20.4%) and to Africa, the Middle East and Asia (24.0%).
