About Us

Betty Low and Mark FraryPublic Sector Travel is dedicated to furthering the knowledge of business travel – and how to buy it – among buyers and managers in the UK public sector.

Public Sector Travel provides information and contextual analysis to achieve this aim. Our team of expert writers seeks out relevant content through a network of public sector and travel contacts and presents it in both verbal (news, features) and numerical (extensive data charts and tables) forms.

In addition to the highly informative and comprehensive public site, there is a members’ site – reserved for registered subscribers – which provides contextual analysis in the form of the weekly PSTInsider as well as premium data such as information on public sector travel tenders, details of the travel spend of universities and travel policies of public bodies. Registration is free of charge for qualifying buyers and managers in the public sector.

Public Sector Travel believes that different channels are appropriate for different kinds of information. As well as the website which is available to all 24/7, Public Sector Travel hosts a series of regional Engage round table events so that buyers can meet with senior industry professionals to exchange knowledge and views in a neutral environment.

Public Sector Travel was launched in 2009 by Betty Low and Mark Frary who have a 15-year history of working together. Both have a strong pedigree in business travel journalism where they realised that nothing in the market provided the specialist information required for professionals in the public sector.

Betty was editor-in-chief of Business Travel World magazine and its highly regarded website, both aimed at travel buyers in the private and public sectors, until their sale in 2009.

Mark worked as Betty’s deputy in the 1990s and went on to carve out a successful career in business travel, writing for Buying Business Travel and Director as well as being the online business travel editor for The Times.

Public Sector Travel is not about sensationalism. It is designed to inform the modern public sector travel buyer, spread best practice travel management techniques and help manage UK public sector budgets in a more efficient and transparent manner.
