With the Cabinet Office, and the ERG in particular, focusing central government’s minds on saving money, we thought it would be useful to look at how its own spending on travel, subsistence and hsopitality has changed over recent years.

As we learn that the government has saved £136 million on travel in the 2010 and 2011, we decided to take a closer look at the spend on travel and subsistence by the Department for Transport. The chart shows the combined spend on T&S for both central administration and the department’s programmes.
